I'm hoping to sort out a pedalboard for my JVM rig at some point in the next few months (depending on quite a few things). I either own what I want, or know what I want, except for delay.
I've owned the TC Flashback before, I've played around with a lot of multieffects delays, and I've tried out things like the Strymon Timeline and what have you. I also currently own the Mooer Anaecho (effectively a Boss DM-2) which is nice but I'm not 100% sold on it. I really liked the Flashback but I don't particularly like choosing based upon what I already know!
I'd like to see what other people have used and their experiences so I can see what else to try. I'm personally a massive fan of tape echo-style ones, but I like most forms of delay. The only kind I don't have much of a use for is modulated delay. I love it, but something that can only do modulated delay isn't much use to me.

I haven't tried it (yet) but the prices on the Digitech Hardwire stuff have been falling a lot recently, and I think the Hardwire Delay has a good rep. Not a recommendation, obviously, but maybe one to consider if you want something decent but not super-expensive (I think it's around £80 on Thomann)- I think it has the rep of being one of the better ones unless you're willing to go up to the really expensive ones like Strymon etc. (could be wrong).
Granted that won't work if you want analogue.

The best I've tried is the multiplex echo machine. However that's a echo more than a delay.

I find the best delay is the delay between me shooting my bolt, and said bolt landing on your mams face. The look of terror is fantastic.

The best I've tried is the multiplex echo machine. However that's a echo more than a delay. Very tempted to build one regardless, I love a good echo so can't see a good reason to not take a go at it.
