I love the shape and feel of an Explorer but it tends to scream Metal and at my age and in the band I'm in, I just think it might look a bit too much.

I love the look of explorers. I've had 3. I don't get on with the ergonomics.

I'd love an Explorer. I'd need to have these though;

I've come close to owning Explorers many a time. Closest I've gotten is the XIphos and the Stealth. I'd love an Explorer someday.

I had a comment but it belongs in another board so I will hope on over there. I only need one more guitar. An explorer, it must be white and it must have EMGs. ALso it can't have a scratchplate.Therefore it has to be this. So.... my guitar? you need to have a bash on that one sometime

I'm currently in two bands, one grungy/hard-rock originals band, and one metal covers band.
We decided at the formation of the covers band that we would rigidly stick to three tunings, because we cover a huge range of stuff from maiden to slipknot, to killswitch to sabbath, and it would be ridiculous to faithfully use the appropriate tuning for each song. So we're in Eb standard, drop Db, and drop B. With those three, we tend to cover everything, and just shove songs in the nearest tuning if it's a matter of being half a step out.
So with that, at least three guitars is an absolute must for me at the moment.
And they are; Eb: Charvel San Dimas (MIJ, all stock) Drop Db: Ibanez IC400 Iceman (EMG 57/66) Drop B: Jackson DK2m (EMG 81)
The originals band is in drop Db 80% of the time, so that guitar gets used for both bands as it suits both, with drop B being the other tuning but it's not as common. The drop B guitar is also used in both bands, but I'd rather have a separate drop B guitar, because it's not strictly 'metal' when we use drop B in the originals band, it's more in a sludgy/stoner vein, so something more old school and pawnshop-esque (preferably short scale, too) would be just dandy, as it would suit the vibe of the band more.
Alas, with an involuntary house move and other expenditures on the very near horizon, that's a luxury I simply can't afford, so for now it stays at 3, but ideally it would be 4 or 5, just for different flavours between the bands.

One completely stock US Standard Stratocaster. Anything else is just bells and whistles.

Just one more is right. NGD today. Well, new old guitar day. I got one of the only two I ever actually missed back.

Mine is potentially going to become just two less.

In terms of electrics, just two. I've got far to many and I'm trying to get rid of most of them, but one guitar for standard and another for messing about with tunings. But in addition to this having a bass and an acoustic is probably essential too.
