I think I might have to invest in some of that solder too. I've done alright with what I have, but anything that takes some of the uncertainty and WHY ARE YOU FLOWING THERE about soldering is good by me.

Everything is far easier when it flows where you want rather than into a ball on the end of your tip.

Pete in my band is giving these a try now, and I'll be getting a couple more at the end of the month. Best cheap experiment ever.

No he hasn't tried mine yet, but he's working on the basis that he hates one of the pickups in one of his guitars, and I'll buy one off him if he doesn't like it compared to the Nailbomb in another guitar. If he doesn't like either, I'll buy both anyway as I need two. I get a sneaky feeling I wont be buying any off him though....

^ LOL Does anyone have any descriptions of what the various pickups are like? The descriptions on the website are a bit vague (or maybe it's that the descriptions on other websites are way too flowery ). Here's what I've got (I think) so far from reading this thread and also from what little I know about pickups and reading the Entwistle site: HVX- fairly high output, versatile, fairly classic-sounding ceramic pickup. Tony said it was good for 80s rock tones and mark said it was very versatile. (That's good enough for me ) HV58- Paf-style. Seem to be available in either alnico 5 or 2. HV58+ - Hot Paf. Seems to be only available with gold screws (?) which is annoying as I have no gold guitars. I'm a bit iffy on how the rest of the humbucker pickups differ. Most (?) seem to be high output? Strat pickups: the 57 seems to be the classic strat set, and then there's a noiseless version. I'm guessing the 62 is higher output with the ceramic magnets, and the 65 is higher again? The tele set just seems to be a classic tele set, so that's easy enough. And the P90s have the option of an alnico or ceramic set (and I think I've also seen a set on Ebay with alnico rods instead of bar magnets which I'm guessing makes them sound a little more Fendery). Also is it just me or are not all of their models on their website? I've seen other models on Ebay and on online stores which don't seem to be on the website...

There's a lot of fake ones going about. However there are a few models not on the site yet. I'll try give you a break down of them all tomorrow. From memory the HV58 is AII when covered AV when not.

^ Thanks Yeah I'd be worried about fakes, it even said on the Entwistle site about that. I'd only buy from a dealer- early days yet and I'm only half-thinking about this, of course, but yeah. I get the feeling that's the case with the HV58s, too- slightly annoying, since I'd like to have the cosmetic option for either magnet. I reckon I'd probably rather have the covered version, but an A5 magnet (at least for the bridge version, neck version I'd be ok either way)

My other guitarist bought the Entwistles and he loves them. That's another vote, they've worked in place of an EVO, and Nailbomb and a Wolfetone-rewound SD Custom, so not exactly no brand pickups.
I'll be buying two more next week.

^ That's not helping the GAS What's actually annoying me is they have several pickups which would work for what I want, but some only have limited cosmetic options which mean they wouldn't suit the guitar(s) I'd want to put them in. Still a few which would work, so I imagine (citation needed ) I'll still get to try them at some point. But yeah.
