Obviously what you need to build is a Diezel Hagen, then you can have authentic HagenCleanzTM

Thats a good idea! Tony, you can make one without all the engineering flaws in it!

Aren't the earliest ones all-valve? I think they got shenanigans before too long, though... EDIT: If you want diode clipping, how about a clone of that new bugera? Seems to be a clone of an HT5 with (presumably) a fire extinguisher included in the price. I was referring to the current fascination with Friedman,Fortin, Cameron etc Ah right. I thought you might have been referring to Blackstar/H&K etc. shenanigans. So they all have diode clipping too? I know one of those sought-after marshall-moddy types has the rep of having it, cameron maybe? I forget which.

Fortin is kinda doing his own thing with it and Cameron is to a lesser extent but Friedman is pretty much hitting the nail on the head. Blackstar are mostly just building an always on tube screamer into the first gain stages.

Thanks I knew one of those ones had diode clipping, but I didn't realise all of them did. And yeah about Blackstar

The Cameron CCV is currently the only one that has something a little different going on that people don't know about. Purely because nobody can get hold of the bloody thing.

Build me one of these. I can't pay for it but we can work out some kind of endorsement deal.

I can indeed, may be a 1000 Watt amp though. And I'd be wary of anything with mercury rectifiers.

Is it a pair of diodes that increases clipping the louder the master gets?

It seems to be more popular earlier nowadays though similar to the marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb etc
