They're all branded parts other than the switches. All the caps are Wima & Sprague/Nichicon with xicon resistors & Neutrik Jacks. Most manufacturers use really poor tolerance unbranded resistors and caps. The switches are a bit finicky though but easy enough to replace. The main issue with the switches is that they are PCB mounted which flexes and cracks the solder joints sometimes if people are heavy footed. MXR do the same thing in all of there recent pedals but the smaller enclosures are sturdier so it isn't as much of a problem. Yeah I suspect the switches and the footswitch were the weak points. I appreciate what you're saying, but unless you're good at DIY/soldering, it doesn't really matter how it breaks, just that it breaks. That is a very good point!

Don't get me wrong, I know what you're saying, and even agree, obviously it's better if something is made well and if it does break that it breaks in an easily-fixable way. Just if you're useless at DIY (like me) nothing is an easy fix... Plus, if my experience was anything to go by, the Biyang stuff seemed much more likely to fail than most other pedals I've tried.
