The pick up worlds best kept secret.
Despite me Tony and Tony singing their praises on a regular basis.
I'm sure that if they marked up their prices 500% and said 'djent' somewhere in the blurb they'd fly off the shelves.

This is true. I think if they were priced higher far more people would have them.

I've seen these online before, possibly due to one of you guys mentioning them. I think it might have been the HVX I was looking at. As you have already surmised, the price put me off on the grounds that a pickup for £16 couldn't be any good. Are they really that good? Could you post more detailed reviews on any of the models?

The HDN is excellent. It has it's own thing going on. I have a review on my blog somewhere that i'll try to dig up.
The HVX is very 80s classic rock sounding. The Nemesis AFG is one that I need to try.
I might do a group buy once there are a few more members on here as I have a dealer account with them so if I get enough interest I can get some discounted sets up.

They really are that great. If they made the HDN's in 7, I'd snap some up. Also, could totally do without the silly logo's on them. The logos are easy to remove. Get some surgical spirit and some cotton wool. It will come off in under a minute. It's just a silkscreen. They are considering doing a HDN7 depending how well they Dark Start does. You could buy the Darkstar and take a magnet from the HDN and put it under the top 6 strings. It's not like you use more than 2 anyway

For £22 for the Dark Star I may take a punt on one to throw into one of my guitars. Bloody cheap as fuck.

I have an HVX in an SLSMG (well, I say I, its my sisters now), and its far from just a rock pickup. It's a pretty damned fine does-anything pickup. Cleans up brilliantly, goes right through to most metal metal you could want.

I think these are relevant
This is the HDN. The HDN can sit alongside an 81 in face-melting brutality, and its cleans are like this

Heard some good things about these- have you tried any of the non-br00tal ones, Mark?

I've tried HDNs and HVXs. I have some 58s as well, but I haven't put them in anything.
The HVX are supposedly non-br00tal, but I beg to differ. They're a bit like what the nailbomb is supposed to be - enough output for metal, but good at everything. Except I think they're better than nailbombs. They're more focussed and less harsh and grainy, and even in response (a-bombs have a big mid hump, where c-bombs are a bit scooped; these are in between in EQ balance).
I also beg to differ about even the HDNs just being metal pickups. I'd happily use them for anything; they'll take to whatever amount of gain you dial in. They do sound more unusual though, as the neodymium has a sound of its own.

I know a guy using HDNs for really clean chicken picked stuff.
Also the HV58s have two seperate versions. A5 and A2.
The A2 is really nice with a surprising amount of kick to the sound in a really raunchy AC/DC kinda way but the place where they shine is clean playing.

Pretty sure I have the A5, but I haven't used them so its a moot point.

I'm in for the group buy but I'd want a zebra set! I love my HDNs but I've got basswood guitars I'd like to try the AFGs in...

I believe the AFG is currently only available in Zebra anyway. They also have the following pickup that looks like it could be interesting The 65 Special is an open frame humbucker with large 6.5mm poles and powerful ceramic magnets. The bridge coil has extra windings so that its tone and output is balanced to the neck pickup. This punchy pickup, suitable for rock & metal tones, not only looks like it means business- it delivers tone and power that belie its modest price
